Biomechanics is the study of the structure of a biological system, such as humans, using mechanical means. Applied to my research, when I say I am working on the biomechanics of the spine, I mean that I am looking at how the spine works from a mechanical point of view: where is the load applied? How is this load distributed? What is the stiffness of the spine? And what is the load-deformation behaviour? These are all biomechanical questions I am answering in my research.
