I definately want to stay in the same field but I’m not sure exactly what I want to do. For now I want to finish my PhD. Then maybe get a fellowship to work as a post-doc in Japan or at a London University. I think I’d like to stay in academia but I am going to try and get some industrial experience to see how I like it.

Keep doing more of what I’m doing at the moment. I’d like to see our work result in frangible (breakable) surrogates that can be used to test ways of preventing injury. I’d also like to see our work used in designing orthopaedic implants. If some of our work can be used in building design that would also be great. Having started in civil engineering, but doing research in biomechanics, it would be really nice to see some of it have an impact back in civil engineering.

In my job as a lecturer as well as an engineer I’d like to help develop more courses, and begin to change some of the ways that we educate our students. I really enjoy the Group Design Projects (groupdesignprojects.org.uk) that I run at the moment and would like to see them develop to involve lots of different types of engineer.
