I am been very lucky in my choice of career. Each job has been an extension of my hobbies, namely electronics and computing. But this software engineering we have to apply engineering principals. So I cannot hack a piece of code and make change willy nilly like I do at home. There have to change controls, proper testing and integration, before handing over to the client. Similarly with electrotnic circuits so the things I design and build are safe and fit for purpose.

At home I am free to do what ever I like any mistakes just crash my PC or blow up a chip. This cannot happen at work.

In summary it has not change my life but I get paid to do essentially my hobbies which I would have done for free, so I am very privilege in this respect.

Without science I wouldn’t be doing what I do! I’m really lucky to get to work on things that excite and interest me everyday. Science and engineering have changed everyone’s lives. Without science and engineering progress would grind to a halt!
