Great question! I don’t think anytime soon…even though that would be fun! I think we might have to settle for jetpacks we can take on and off. It probably would get in the way of things!
Usually we always try and make things that are as close to the original i.e. what we normally have.

      Hi Hodor,
I don’t think this would be something that is likely to happen at all, let alone soon. One of the problems with jetpacks is that they are both inherently unstable and incredibly inefficient. If you watch a video by Jen Stansfield (http://tinyurl.com/jetpack1001) you will see the difficulty he has in controlling it, which would be amplified if you were placing the source of propulsion on your feet, where you have a lot less stability. I know it ruins the idea of having people shooting about the skies in an Iron Man style suit, however the wing suit is probably about as close as we are currently going to get (http://tinyurl.com/jetpack1003). The How Stuff Works website has a good discussion about it (http://tinyurl.com/jetpack1002).

I don’t think you’d want a jet pack on your legs! There’d be a pretty good chance of breaking your legs that way. I’d rather stick with regular jet packs at the moment! Personal helicopters and hovercrafts sound good as well!
