I’ve always been interested in how things work and building things. I was always making things from cardboard and anything else I could get hold of. I had a lot of Lego as well! So I think as soon as I found out I could build things and find out how things work for a living – then I knew I wanted to be an engineer. When I was 16 I did some work experience with a construction company, working on the British Library, and then I was sure.

I always wanted to find out what was beneath the surface of things that made them work. I love the challenge of solving problems and making things. But I also love people and I wanted to help people get better. So when I was applying for university I decided to look through different courses and eventually came to bioengineering which is a mixture of engineering and medicine that I thought was perfect for me. I think you should always go with what you love doing.
