      Yes a histopathologist is someone who analyses tissue samples to diagnose diseases. You would definitely need biology and a good understanding of medicine, but I imagine it needs a lot of practice too. Is that what you want to do?

      Not sure if this is just meant for Lizzie, but I’ll answer anyway. Yes, I do know what a histopathologist does (see the link in Lizzie’s answer). One of my flatmates when I was in Edinburgh worked as a histopathologist – it’s a very skilled job.

      Recently there has been some great work taking stacks of tissue slices, scanning these and building up 3D representations of the tissue, with much more detail than we can achieve from other scanning techniques. It is really good example of innovation based on combining different technologies.
