• Question: how did you come up with this idea to repair damaged bones with layers sheets of cells? it sounds like a brilliant idea but i am just curious how it is going to be manufactured

      Hi Charlotte, thanks! I think its a brilliant idea too! and I can agree with you because I didn’t come up with it. We have a collaboration with a research group in Japan who invented the technology, and we are working with them to develop it for bone. It is already in clinical trials for cornea, cardiac, cartilage and periodontal ligament. Prof Okano has an incredible vision for the future and is way ahead. They have already made an automated machine that can culture the cells and layer them automatically! So he sees the future as hospitals all having one of these machines. Pretty amazing!
